A zoom lecture by Moon Laramie
Sunday 6th December – 6pm
When author Moon Laramie was researching the life of Greta Garbo he came across a remarkable but deeply revealing comment on her life. It described her as a ‘mystic Swede’ and ‘interested in Theosophy’. Often depicted as a lonely recluse, Garbo was in truth a spiritual explorer with a profound sense of connection to the natural world. She was a ‘kosmocentric’ thinker, drawn to occult ideas.
This talk is based on Moon Laramie’s book ’Spirit of Garbo’. Moon will examine the spiritual awakening of the Swedish actress as she progressed from humble beginnings in a poverty-stricken district of Stockholm to a career as Hollywood’s ‘reluctant movie star’. Following Garbo’s mystical journey, Moon will highlight the occult themes hidden in many of her films and the strength of feeling about Theosophy in Hollywood at that time.
Moon Laramie is a member of the Theosophical Society in England and part of the White Lotus Group committee for unattached members. He is the author of ‘Blavatsky Unveiled Volume 1’, the first publication in an ambitious project presenting the works of H.P. Blavatsky in modern English.

Blavatsky Unveiled – Moon Laramie
This month sees the publication of ‘Blavatsky Unveiled Vol. 1: The Writings of H.P. Blavatsky in Modern English’ by Moon Laramie. Moon is a member of the Theosophical Society in England and part of the White Lotus Group committee for unattached members.
‘Blavatsky Unveiled’ marks the beginning of an ambitious publishing project to present Blavatsky’s major works in accessible contemporary English.
The elaborate Victorian prose of ‘Isis Unveiled’ can often prove a challenge to the modern reader. Blavatsky Unveiled removes these obstacles and allows easier access to Blavatsky’s important ideas. It also acts as an indispensable tool for anyone studying the original text.
For the first time, exhaustive and comprehensive scholarship has been applied to H.P.B’s debut occult masterpiece. All references have been meticulously researched and, where possible, verified from their primary source material. The book includes detailed notes and a comprehensive ‘Who’s Who’ of everyone cited in the text.
Covering the first part of Isis Unveiled, Blavatsky Unveiled Vol. 1 throws light on the incredible occult journey of Madame Blavatsky. It is a rollercoaster ride through a world of Gnostics, Kabbalists, Chaldean Oracles, cataclysms, seances, skeptical scientists, perpetual lamps, phantom dogs and Indian conjurors, to name a few. Along the way the reader encounters such figures as Pythagoras, Paracelsus, Aristotle, Darwin, Schopenhauer, Galileo, Isaac Newton, the spirit entity Katie King, Franz Mesmer, Eliphas Levi and many more.
Blavatsky Unveiled is available from the TSE Bookshop and all good booksellers. Click here to buy: https://shop.theosophicalsociety.org.uk/
