The WFYT is a newly-reactivated, international group of over 200 young theosophists from 32 countries around the globe. These include Argentina, Australia, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, El Salvador, England, Wales, Finland, Frances, Germany, Greece, India, Ireland, Italy, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Philippines, Puerto Rico, Scotland, Singapore, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Uruguay, USA, Nigeria and Zambia.

History

In 1923, the WFYT (also called under different names throughout its existence) was formed to organise activities by young members of the TS and those interested in Theosophy. The Federation was envisioned as a parallel movement from its parent Society (similar to the Theosophical Order of Service) so that young newcomers who expressed interest in the Theosophical work and joined their local lodge could realise that they were not alone in their age group. Since 1999 the Federation remained dormant for two decades. In 2020, a group of young Theosophists, inspired by the former initiatives, started to work towards the revival and strengthening of the Theosophical Movement among young members throughout the world.

This movement supports the young members of the Theosophical Society to act as workers for the Theosophical Movement. It aims to awaken the spirit of brotherhood and kinship among young theosophists enabling us to live the life of study, meditation, and service.

Objects

The Objects of the WFYT are:

  1. To strengthen the sense of global community, collaboration and practical brotherhood amongst young theosophists.
  2. To support its mother institution, The Theosophical Society based in Adyar, in the accomplishment of its objects and mission which is stated as follows: “To serve humanity by cultivating an ever deepening understanding and realisation of the Ageless Wisdom, spiritual self-transformation, and the unity of all life.”
  3. To prepare young theosophists to act as workers for the Theosophical Movement.

The age limit of the movement was set at 41 years. Once a member turns 41, they are encouraged to transition fully into the Theosophical Society Lodges, where they can mentor others and take on broader responsibilities. While you cannot be an active "member" after 40, the WFYT board often invites older members to serve as Honorary Members. These individuals have no age limit and act as volunteers or advisors, providing a bridge between the youth federation and the parent society in Adyar without taking up membership slots reserved for younger individuals.

YouTube

Watch the latest online lectures, workshops and study groups held by members of the WFYT: World Federation of Young Theosophists-WFYT - YouTube.

The WFYT YouTube channel serves as a digital hub for the "reactivated" youth movement, which was revitalised around 2020. Its content is designed to make the Ageless Wisdom accessible to a modern, younger audience through diverse formats.

The channel primarily includes:

Theosophical Insights Podcast

This is the flagship series of the channel. It features interviews with seasoned members of the Theosophical Society and younger researchers. Discussions often bridge the gap between ancient philosophy and modern challenges, covering science, society, and personal spiritual growth. You’ll find multi-part interviews with prominent figures like Linda Oliveira and Ron Liggett, focusing on "Theosophy for Life."

Creative & Cultural Gatherings

Unlike more formal lodge channels, the WFYT YouTube features content that highlights the creative expression of its members:

  • Poetry Evenings: The channel hosts recordings of global "Poetry Evenings," where young theosophists from around the world share original poems and reflections.
  • Social Events: It occasionally archives biweekly social discussions focused on "Practical Theosophy"—how to live the teachings rather than just studying them.

Study Groups

The channel provides a window into their various ongoing projects and monthly meetings, including:

  • Astrology Series: Engaging monthly Zoom study groups that explore the spiritual and theosophical dimensions of astrology.
  • Spanish-Language Content: Because the WFYT is a global movement, they host specific dialogues and interviews conducted in Spanish to support their large Latin American and Spanish membership.
  • The Golden Stairs: This study group focuses on how to apply Blavatsky's 19th-century precepts to modern, 21st-century life. The focus is heavily on “Practical Theosophy” - what that means in terms of environmental ethics, mental health, or social media consumption.

Movement Updates

The channel also serves as a transparency tool for the federation, featuring:

  • Board Introductions: "Meet the Board" sessions (like the "Keepers of the Growing Light" series) where members of the current 2024–2026 Board discuss their vision and roles.
  • Gathering Reports: Visual summaries and testimonials from international youth gatherings, such as the 2024 meeting in the Himalayas.

Weekly Group Meditation

The Singapore Lodge of the Theosophical Society (SLTS) hosts regular online meditation sessions designed to promote collective healing and spiritual growth, of which the youth is a big part. These sessions are held via Zoom and are open to the public, fostering a global community of practitioners.

Schedule: Every Friday from 8:30 PM to 9:15 PM (Singapore Time, GMT+8).

The session is structured to help participants raise their awareness into "unity consciousness." Practitioners invoke "spiritual intelligences of healing" to first heal themselves and the world at large, before specifically directing healing energies toward individuals known to be in need.

The Lodge provides a consistent Zoom Meeting ID and password on their official website, making it easy for both members and non-members to join without prior registration.

In-person International Gatherings and Online Seminars

Members have the opportunity to connect with young people from different countries and continents who are passionate about Theosophy - to meet others who are actively embracing its principles and bringing them to every-day life; forging stronger friendships and growing our global spiritual family with each gathering and with a deeper sense of universal unity. These events are immersive retreats focused on Unity in Action. A typical gathering includes:

  • Morning Meditations
  • Thematic workshops, including brainstorming sessions on the future of the Theosophical Society and the role of youth.
  • Volunteering involving physical work like gardening, painting, or cleaning at the host centre.
  • Informal evening spaces for getting to know fellow seekers - sharing, music, chanting, and discussions about personal spiritual paths.

The following gatherings have taken place:

  • Naarden, Netherlands (2022 & 2023): The first post-pandemic in-person meetings at the International Theosophical Centre (ITC). These gatherings focused on "Self-Transformation" and "The Path of Cooperation.
  • Bhowali, Himalayas (June 2024): Held at the Himalayan Study Centre in India. The theme was "The Flame of Theosophy – Revisiting the Fundamentals," focusing on the core occult teachings of the movement.
  • Adyar, Chennai, India (December 2025): These gatherings are timed around the International Conventions. The most recent one in 2026 explored the theme of “The Path of Integrated Living”, with insightful talks from esteemed guest speakers Tran-Thi-Kim-Dieu (President of TS France)and Simon O’Rourke (National Education Coordinator – TS Australia),
  • Naarden, Netherlands (June 2025): A gathering themed "The Occult Life – The Inner & Practical Aspects of the Path," with lectures from renowned speaker Pablo Sender and workshops on self-inquiry with Michelle Sender, along with musical chanting, art and walks in nature.
  • Kreivilä, Finland: The next upcoming international gathering scheduled for June 2026.
